The Rubedo series embodies the last and crucial phase of alchemical work, where matter reaches its perfection through purifying fire. In continuity with the research started in Work and L'Oro della Terra, Magnani proposes here a transformative path of an active and energetic nature, where the inner treasure must be conquered through a process of creative sublimation. From a chromatic point of view, the collection marks a radical evolution: abandonment of the earthy tones of Nigredo, affirmation of a fiery palette (cinnabar reds, glowing oranges, solar golds) and contrasts that simulate the effects of alchemical combustion. Yang counterpoint to the yin dimension of the Neptune series.
Technique
Panels of polymeric material fused by fire and/or hot air (800 °C) painted with acrylics and enamels with inclusions of stones, sands and 24kt gold leaf.
