"To develop and promote the synergistic interaction between the world of art and the world of science for a new vision and understanding of reality."

"Enrico Magnani | Searching the Unknown "is an international level art exhibition curated by Marilena Streit-Bianchi organized as part of the CERN Personnel Exhibitions Association and scheduled at the CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in Geneva from 16 to 26 July 2019 .

The new "Supernova Dark Matter" collection created by the artist Enrico Magnani between 2018 and 2019 will be on display at the Main Building of CERN. The works are inspired by one of the most current themes of the scientific research, that of the "Dark Matter", interpreting in an artistic manner the mystery that surrounds it.

Multidisciplinary events will accompany the inauguration: music obtained through the sonification of the discovery of the Higgs’ boson and a series of interventions on the interaction between Art and Science in scientific research by the proponents of the Art@CERN project and Art@CMS.

For the occasion, a catalogue of the exhibition has been published (Kaiti expansion Editore) in which, in addition to the images of the works on display, are collected the texts of authoritative philosophers, art critics and scientists engaged in research ranging from particle physics to cosmology (Luisa Cifarelli, Luis Álvarez Gaumé, Michela Massimi, Tiziano Camporesi, Licia Verde, Amedeo Balbi, Beatrice Bressan, Valerio Dehò e Marilena Streit-Bianchi).

This project aims to develop and promote the synergistic interaction between the world of art and the world of science in order to produce a more conscious and correlated vision of the complex reality in which we live. This vision leads to deeper reflections on the interiority and the dynamics of human thought as well as a relationship with the surrounding environment that is qualitatively more significant in which intuition and creation, in every field of human knowledge, can be more easily freed.
